Manchester City have been dealt a fresh injury blow ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby, with forward Omar Marmoush emerging as a doubt after suffering a knee problem on international duty with Egypt.
The 26-year-old, signed from Eintracht Frankfurt in January for £59 million, was forced off just nine minutes into Egypt’s World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso.

He has since returned to England and is awaiting a full medical assessment by City’s staff.
Marmoush’s setback compounds Guardiola’s selection worries, as City already have a lengthy injury list to contend with. Among those sidelined are:
- Rayan Cherki
- Rayan Aït-Nouri
- Marcus Bettinelli
- 🇭🇷 Josko Gvardiol
- Abdukodir Khusanov
- Rico Lewis
- John Stones
- Phil Foden
- Mateo Kovačić
- Nico O’Reilly
- Kalvin Phillips
- Savinho
With key players from defence, midfield, and attack unavailable, Guardiola faces a major selection headache going into one of the biggest fixtures of the season.
Marmoush has made an impressive start to life in Manchester, scoring eight goals in 28 appearances and starting City’s last two league games.
His potential absence would leave Guardiola with limited attacking options as City aim to keep their title bid on track against fierce rivals Manchester United.
