Vipers SC delivered a dominant performance to book their place in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Uganda Cup, brushing aside Iganga United with a commanding 4-0 victory at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday evening.
The Venoms asserted their authority early in the contest, taking the lead just eight minutes in. Defender Hillary Mukundane rose highest to power home a well-delivered corner from Yunus Sentamu, setting the tone for what would become a one-sided encounter.
Despite creating a number of promising opportunities in the first half, Vipers were unable to convert further chances, heading into the break with a narrow 1-0 advantage.
The hosts returned from halftime with renewed intensity and quickly widened the gap. Gusto Mulongo doubled the lead after being teed up by the lively Abdul Karim Watambala, before striking again just two minutes later to put the game beyond Iganga United’s reach.
As the match edged into stoppage time, Mukundane completed his brace in style, expertly finishing off a pinpoint delivery from Usama Arafat to seal a comprehensive win.
The result sees Vipers march confidently into the last eight of the prestigious knockout competition, underlining their intent to challenge strongly for the trophy this season.
