Buweekula and Ssingo to Face Off in The 2025 Masaza Cup Final

The 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup will climax in a grand finale between Buweekula and Ssingo on November 1st at the newly refurbished Hamz Stadium (Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium), after both sides emerged victorious in their semifinal return legs on Sunday.

In Mityana, hosts Ssingo sealed their place in the final with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Bugerere, progressing 2-1 on aggregate thanks to their first-leg triumph in Kayunga.

Despite Bugerere’s spirited push for an equalizer, Ssingo’s backline held firm, cheered on by an electric home crowd that celebrated every clearance like a goal.

Meanwhile, in Mukono, drama unfolded as Buweekula edged Kyaggwe in a thrilling encounter played on a rain-soaked surface at Bishops SS Playground.

Guided by tactician Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza, Buweekula clawed their way back into contention with a decisive 1-0 victory, leveling the tie 2-2 on aggregate before triumphing 4-3 in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.

Colline Ssemanda turned hero for Buweekula with the all-important goal just two minutes into the second half.

The ensuing shootout tested nerves and precision, Kyaggwe’s Calvin Peter Emayo fired over the bar while Julius Kalule struck the post, handing Buweekula the edge.

Buweekula’s spot-kick heroes: Alfred Ssebunya, Calvin Pariyo Ogubezo, Feni Eriyeza, and Collins Ssemanda — coolly converted to seal their ticket to Nakivubo.

Before the grand finale, fans will be treated to a third-place play-off between Kyaggwe and Bugerere, also scheduled for November 1st as the early kickoff.

Since its inception in 2004, the Buganda Masaza Cup has grown into one of Uganda’s most prestigious football tournaments, showcasing raw local talent and uniting communities under the cultural banner of the Buganda Kingdom.

Gomba remains the record holder with five titles, a benchmark both Ssingo and Buweekula now dream of chasing.
