Uganda Cranes forward Denis Omedi came off the bench to deliver a heavenly touch as APR edged Gicumbi FC 2–1 in a pulsating Rwanda Premier League encounter at the Kigali Pele Stadium.
With the score locked at 1–1, Omedi, introduced for his fellow countryman Hakim Kiwanuka midway through the second half, needed only a few minutes to make his presence felt.
Rising highest in the box, the 24-year-old powered home a commanding header that sealed victory and secured APR’s second successive triumph of the campaign.

Earlier in the clash, William Togui had given the army side a dream start with a fifth-minute opener, only for Lola Kanda Moise to restore parity for Gicumbi with a well-taken header.
But Omedi’s decisive strike ensured APR remain perched at the summit of the early league standings.
Kiwanuka, who impressed with crisp link-up play before making way for his compatriot, underlined the depth of Ugandan influence in APR’s attacking arsenal.
Elsewhere, another Ugandan made headlines as goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato stood tall between the sticks for Mukura Victory Sports, helping them to a hard-fought 1–1 draw with Gorilla FC. Zuberi Hakizimana put Mukura in front, but Narcisse Masudi’s late spot-kick denied them maximum points.
